Glossary of Paid Search Terms
PPC: Pay Per Click
Search Query: A request to a search engine for information. The user types in words or topics, and the search engine returns matching results from its database.
SERPS: Search Engine Results Pages
Impression: An ad served to a user's browser. An impression will be counted each time your ad is seen after a users search query. When using PPC, advertisers do not pay for Impressions
Click Through: When a user clicks on your ad and is redirected to the landing page of your website. If running PPC on a CPC pricing model a cost is incurred to the advertiser at this stage.
CPC: Cost Per Click. The cost an advertiser incurs each time a user clicks on their Sponsored Ad.
Click Through Rate (CTR): The number of clickthroughs divided by the number of impressions, multiplied by 100 and expressed as a percentage.
Quality Score: The basis for measuring the quality and relevance of your ads.
